Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC)
The Equal Opportunity Cell was formed in the college in July 2017 as per the mandate of UGC. The main objective of the EOC is to facilitate affirmative action to ensure equal opportunity for all within its fold. The EOC works for the disadvantaged groups i.e. SCs, STs,OBC (non-creamy layer), minorities and differently abled Persons (PWD)
Aims and Objectives
To oversee the effective implementation of policies and programmes for disadvantaged groups
To provide guidance and counselling with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters
To enhance the diversity within the campus.
Functions
Scholarships and Financial Support
The College provides Scholarships and Financial Support to number of students under various categories. The financial support is provided from the Institution, Government, College Development Council, Panjab University and Other Sources. The main responsibility of the EOC Cell is that most of the students from the disadvantaged groups of SCs/ STs/ OBC/ and minorities are benefitted by these schemes. The EOC and the Scholarship Committee disseminates the information related to schemes and programmes for the students. 2020-2021.The PWD, SC/ST and EWS category students to be given 100% tuition fee waiver on Merit Cum Means basis from the session
Preserve the rights ofMinorities
Minorities enrich the societies of each country in the world. It is ensured that the rights of ethnic, religious, and linguistic minorities are considered, and they are not left out.Guaranteed protection of their identity is ensured.They benefit from the principles of effective participation and non-discrimination in all areas in the college activities.The college strength comprises of students from all communities, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Jains. The college ensures that there is no discrimination on grounds of minority status.
Providing facilities to Differently abled/ PWD/ Divyangjan
The college has designated a room in the administrative block for EOC where students can meet the members of the committee
The college building is disabled friendly to ensure a hassle-free stay of students.There are ramps and lift for students with mobility impairment for easy accessibility to the upper floors. The college has special toilets for disabled students and staff. The authorities and students are very supportive,considerate, and empathetic for students with special needs. Special care is taken while allotting timetable to students. They are encouraged to participate in various relevant activities.
Redressal of grievances
Complaints of students if any, will be addressed.
Gender Sensitization
The various committees of the college, NSS, NCC, Women Development cell, Rotaract club etc ensures participation of students in various activities.
Equal opportunities for SCs and STs
Adopts measures fair distribution of facilities and reservation of seats in admission to many courses
Enhances Diversity
Students from various states, countries and backgrounds seek admission in college.
Teaching and non-teaching staff is a blend of people from cross section of society to enhance the diversity within the campus.
The college celebrates the rich heritage of culture & festivals on all occasions.
